Rotate Theatre Writing Workshops offer theatre artists of all specialties fun, accessible ways to experiment with playwriting featuring underrepresented perspectives. Actors are especially encouraged to participate and to write engaging roles for themselves. Participants are invited to perform in Rotate Theatre's winter show, Stage Test: An Evening of Works in Development, on January 13 at the MYArts building in Madison, WI.
Sessions include a rotating collection of writing prompts, activities utilizing other areas of theatre (acting, design, etc), and contextualizing exercises that help us recognize and shape the messages of our own developing plays. Rotate Theatre Writing Workshops combine our own Rotation Practices with techniques gathered in other settings, including Francesca Peppiatt's Chicago-based "Play For Keeps" program.
The Rotate Theatre Writing Workshop: Fall 2023 will be held virtually. Rotate Theatre's in-person programming in Madison, WI includes an Acting Workshop on Sundays running in tandem with the Writing Workshop.
